A few warm days
This weekend we enjoy in Ulaanbaatar a few warm days. With Manlai, my 17 year old roommate and a few other Mongolian friends (Including the winner of the Mongolian Germany wanted for the superstar variant) we went to the ski area and were snowboarding. At minus 12 degrees warmer you could finally once again easily spend the day in the fresh air.
Manlai and Baatar, a friend with whom he has pulled together 10 years ago in the U.S., told me about her first snowboarding experience. As small children they are grown with Manlais father for the first time on a chairlift. Inexperienced as they were, but they did not know that the lift has a terminus. So they have, as the chair between about by only a few feet of the floor was opened to the ironing, 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... counted down and jumped. [Without comment]
Tuesday, it will be then be over with the warm weather and there are even temperatures below minus 40 degrees announced. During the day, often about its minus 25 degrees. The coldest capital in the world proves again why she deserves her title.
