diaspora - there is still much to do
In recent weeks I've heard and read some of Diaspora ... and I also viewed the videos to. Because I think Facebook is too cluttered, and a waste of time, I was curious, could look like the alternative. in my twitter-timeline I found the announcement as "facebook-killer". After I've
fefe two entries in found it, and read a little further did, I come to the conclusion is still much to do here. The article shows that it was a bad idea to post code in this state. This is because the developers have revealed that they did not respect the safety of the beginning.
This is a minimal expectation, otherwise I would not install this software to me.
I think even the developers now have a really hard piece of work to do:
First, remove the error from the source code.
must then be checked all the code with a focus on safety.
Security is here for me, that my information be used only in diaspora, as I freely admit that. That was the basic idea of diaspora, I am master of my data to stay.
The third and most serious issue is the task to restore confidence and to work at it. publish source code in this bad quality, can only show something was a wrong idea. Can I expect that the developers can actually produce better code?
Many argue that the improvements would now come from many programmers to improve the project. That may be. But the four developers Diaspora recognize whether a patch is good or bad? Or they can understand a complex patch solves an obvious problem, but a gap of other (perhaps intentionally?) open?
Oh and a comment on my idea to the developers and their videos I can not help also .. It all looks to Apple fanboys, the main thing chic and stylish, a look as we have made the summer of sponsors nice ...
I have my doubts. I'm going to look small at first NoseRub ...
